Background

NCI Identification Number:

00310

Antigen Name:

Cell Division Cycle 25C Peptide 1

CPTC Name:

CPTC-CDC25C Peptide 1

Aliases:

Cell Division Cycle 25C; Protein Phosphatase 1, Regulatory Subunit 60; M-Phase Inducer Phosphatase 3; EC 3.1.3.48; CDC25; Dual Specificity Phosphatase CDC25C; Dual Specificity Phosphatase Cdc25C; Phosphotyrosine Phosphatase; Mitosis Inducer CDC25; PPP1R60

Function:

This gene encodes a conserved protein that plays a key role in the regulation of cell division. The encoded protein directs dephosphorylation of cyclin B-bound CDC2 and triggers entry into mitosis. It also suppresses p53-induced growth arrest. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants of this gene have been described.CDC25C (Cell Division Cycle 25C) is a Protein Coding gene. Diseases associated with CDC25C include Plague and Prostate Cancer. Among its related pathways are Human cytomegalovirus infection and Oocyte meiosis. Gene Ontology (GO) annotations related to this gene include protein kinase binding and WW domain binding. An important paralog of this gene is CDC25B.Functions as a dosage-dependent inducer in mitotic control. Tyrosine protein phosphatase required for progression of the cell cycle. When phosphorylated, highly effective in activating G2 cells into prophase. Directly dephosphorylates CDK1 and activates its kinase activity.Cdc25 is a dual specificity phosphatase with three isoforms in mammalian cells - Cdc25A, B and C. Cdc25 activates cdk complexes that drive the cell cycle. Cdc25 is involved in the DNA damage checkpoints and is known as a key mediator of cell cycle progression.
