Antigen Name:

RecQ Like Helicase Peptide 1

CPTC Name:

CPTC-RECQL Peptide 1

Aliases:

RecQ Like Helicase; RecQ1; RecQ Protein-Like (DNA Helicase Q1-Like); DNA Helicase, RecQ-Like Type 1; ATP-Dependent DNA Helicase Q1; DNA-Dependent ATPase Q1; RecQ Protein-Like 1; RecQ Helicase-Like; RECQL1; DNA Helicase Q1-Like; EC 3.6.4.12; EC 3.6.1; RecQL1; RECQL; RECQ1

Function:

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the RecQ DNA helicase family. DNA helicases are enzymes involved in various types of DNA repair, including mismatch repair, nucleotide excision repair and direct repair. The encoded protein is involved in the processing of Holliday junctions, the suppression of sister chromatid exchanges, telomere maintenance, and is required for genotoxic stress resistance. Defects in this gene have been associated with several types of cancer. RECQL (RecQ Like Helicase) is a Protein Coding gene. Diseases associated with RECQL include Inherited Cancer-Predisposing Syndrome and Werner Syndrome. Among its related pathways are DNA Damage. Gene Ontology (GO) annotations related to this gene include nucleic acid binding and ATP-dependent DNA helicase activity. An important paralog of this gene is BLM.DNA helicase that may play a role in the repair of DNA that is damaged by ultraviolet light or other mutagens. Exhibits a magnesium-dependent ATP-dependent DNA-helicase activity that unwinds single- and double-stranded DNA in a 3'-5' direction.
