The Experimental Design – Verification Working Group of the Clinical Proteomics Technology Assessment for Cancer developed reference materials through several inter-laboratory studies. The original goal of these materials was to assess intra-lab and inter-lab variability for multiple-reaction-monitoring (MRM) experiments. This first-of-its-kind study was published in 2009: Addona et al. Nat. Biotech. 2009, 27, 633.
The experiment consisted of 7 proteins spiked into pooled plasma at specific concentration levels. Isotopically-labeled peptides were also spiked into the digested sample to provide quantitative information about the proteins.
With the increased interest around MRM, this kit, consisting of the spiked plasma mixtures, is now available to the broader proteomics community on a first-come, first-serve basis. Ideally, the kit would be used to accelerate the learning curve of using MRM in a lab. These reagents may also serve to evaluate modifications to an existing MRM platform.
Please send requests for the material to: cancer.proteomics@mail.nih.gov. In your request, please specify, “MRM reagent kit.”
